I am a Clinical Counseling and Mental Health Intern from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center working to complete my requirements to receive my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health.
I offer individual counseling to teens and adults suffering from anxiety, bullying, depression, trauma, self-harm, and struggles with parenting. My approach is to partner with you, to collaborate. I will accomplish this by using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). We will work together to identify events and cognitive distortions that can disrupt your life and emotions. It is in identifying these events and how we think of them that healing can begin. Our focus will then move to reinforcing your own strengths and we will build coping skills for healthy emotional processing. Together, we will design meaningful goals and provide you with tools you can use outside of our sessions to maintain a balance in emotional regulation.
I also offer marriage and couples counseling. My approach is the use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). When two individuals come together with two different levels of emotions and perspectives it is through DBT that I can help each of you identify unwanted behavior and emotions and learn to communicate through talking points to decrease emotional levels during conflict. Through the DBT skills of mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance the level of emotions can be regulated and a new level of hearing and connecting is possible. I am very aware of the courage it takes to reach out when you are in distress. I consider it a privilege to come alongside you and help you begin your own journey towards a different way of feeling or doing to find you relief in your struggles. I look forward to working together in a true collaboration towards health.
